Hi! Welcome to our website. The best way to get to know me is to stop by and chat. But here's some info in the meantime.
I am a Beaufort County native and grew up on the Pamlico River. In my free time you will usually find me on the water with my husband, Gary. I have two daughters who are grown and off pursuing their interests - one in Boston and one in Vietnam. I'm a second-career pastor. My first career was as an attorney, practicing law first in California and then in North Carolina. But ... God has a sense of humor, and after over 23 years of practicing law I was called to ministry. I received my Masters of Divinity with honors from Campbell Divinity School in Buies Creek, N.C. and was ordained June 2010 at Covenant Christian Church (DoC) in Cary, N.C. I was called as minister to FCC Williamston in October 2010. I approach the Bible and theology with humility, acknowledging that I do not and never will have all the answers. Thus, we journey together and do our best, with the Holy Spirit's guidance, to understand Scripture and our place in God's Story of Creation and Redemption. My theological beliefs are middle of the road - neither too conservative nor too liberal - but definitely not lukewarm! I seek to lead the congregation with enthusiasm, freshness and creativity. Worship should never be boring, stale or routine. I also received very good advice from another minister. On my first day on the job I asked the out-going interim minister, an elderly and wise man, "what is the secret to ministry"? And he said, "just love the people." That's been my focus during my time here. I'd love to get to know you too. Feel free to stop by. Blessings, Pastor Karen
